Think You Know All About the 50’s? – 2 Trivias

The 1950s was one of my favorite movie eras. Black-and-white was crisp and nice. Yet color was there too. And it was bright red, bright blue. There were musicals and mysteries, westerns and sci-fi flicks. It was a great time for American moviegoers.

Here are 2 1950’s movie factoids I bet you didn’t know.

1. Danny Kaye was a popular actor who became a household name after starring in The Kid from Brooklyn and The Secret Life of Danny Kaye for the way he could perform tongue-twisting songs and monologues. But did you know that his name was really David Daniel Kaminski? (His parents emigrated from the Ukraine 3 years earlier.)

2. The good-times What’s My Line? question-and-answer show featured a number of celebrities. Each Sunday at 10:30 p.m. the best names in Hollywood would appear before 4 blind-folded panelists who would ask questions and try to figure who he or she was. It was a proper black-tie affair. And it was fun. Do you remember the name of the host? John (Charles) Daly.
